Alice I. Behm (LaPort), age 86, of Newfane, entered into rest on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at her home. Born June 14, 1926 in Newfane, Alice is the daughter of the late Herman and Frieda (Poeller) Newman. Alice graduated from Newfane Central School in 1944. She married Frederick Behm May 23, 1964 in Newfane. Alice had previously been married to the late Floyd W. LaPort. Alice worked as a secretary for Friendly’s in Lockport retiring in 1993. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Moose Club of Lockport. Alice enjoyed spending time with her family, playing horseshoes, shopping, square dancing, roller skating and making porcelain dolls at her shop, Ye Old Countryside Doll Clinic. Surviving is her loving husband, Frederick Behm. Dear mother of: Douglas LaPort of Newfane, Joyce (Jeff) Roberts of Vero Beach, Fl and Kevin (Samantha) LaPort of Newfane. Loving grandmother of: Mary Lou, Brandi, Crystal, Nickolas, Keri, Andrea and Geoffrey. Great grandmother of: Troy, Jessalynn, Cameron, Johnny, Devon, Christopher, Elisabeth, Kyle and Mary. Sister of the late: Edward Newman. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Kenneth H. Sherrie Funeral Home, 6139 East Avenue, Newfane, on Thursday, April 18, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral services will be held at the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Ridgewood, 7147 Ridge Road, Lockport, NY 14094 on Friday, April 19, 2013 at 11:00 am with the Reverend Kenneth Craig officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, Cambria, NY.
