Obituary of Richard G. Hoffman

Richard G. “Dick” Hoffman, age 81, died October 25, 2019 unexpectedly while catching his breath on “The Liar’s Bench”. 

He was born December 18, 1937 in Syracuse, a son of Gordon and Helen (Camic) Hoffman and had lived in this area for most of his life. 

Dick served in the National Guard from 1954-1960 , was a graduate of the Rochester Business Institute and was a retiree of Eastman Kodak Company.  He was a member of the Pullman Memorial Unitarian Universalist Church, where he served on the Board of Trustees and as Treasurer for over 35 years.  Dick was active in his community and in addition to serving as a Town of Carlton Councilman, he also worked as an Election Inspector for Orleans County Board of Elections.  He was also a former chairman of the Orleans County Fishery Advisory Board and in his youth, was very active in Sports.  In recent years, Dick spent much of his time volunteering as a driver for the Orleans County Veterans Van Service. 

Mr. Hoffman was predeceased by a son, Scott R. Hoffman and two sisters: Carol Culmo and Virginia Satterlee. 

He is survived by his wife of almost 63 years, Lysbeth “Betsy” Hoffman, his son: David (Ingrid) Hoffman of Middlesex, NY, brothers: Lee (Cheryl) Hoffman of Lillian, AL, Roy (Debbie) Hoffman of Kenyonville, Paul (Candi) Hoffman of Crystal River, FL, grandsons: Shawn Hoffman, Kevin (Kimberly) Hoffman as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 21 West Avenue-Albion, MONDAY November 4^th from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. where Dick’s Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. following visitation.  Private interment in Mount Albion Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family.
