My first memory of my brother is of superhero status.
There is an Expressway along the way to school, 65 th street. He was walking me to school he in 7th and I was 1 stgrade. As we got to the sidewalk a car came speeding on a right turn onto McMahon ave. He pushed me up to the sidewalk and the car had hit him and he rolled onto the hood, roof, and trunk landing on his feet! He calmly walked to me and told me to get to school and dont be late! Well, I ran to school that day.
My brother could hear anything I had to say in his typical big brother shenanigans was always in good humor. He could make you hysterically laugh, make me think and just put things in perspective with his silly giggle and sly crooked smile. Or a hug.
Our yearly occasional 4th of July, birthday, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year conversations always lasted 2 hours min. Kept us both updated on life, family and each other.
He loved like a warrior honestly and deeply with everything he had. Devoted to his wife Diane and and his little peanut (Nicole) and little man (Micheal).
He intensely loved his life and knew he was blessed with his wife and family.
Always picked up the phone when I called and answered, " Hey uglier than me,? What's up"? The 2 hour conversation ended with I love you too. This birthday call he didn't answer.... Gods call came first and he answered.....
I love you too Creg.... Give mom, Dad, Karen and the Grandmas a kiss for me. And I'll kiss Diane and the kids for you.
My brother, friend, warrior and clown.most of all, beyond the status of I love you too. Catch you on the flipside!

My Brother was a proud man, even when he was younger, seemed like he loved picking on me and laughing about it. My mom had moved to ocean side with her husband and I started crying and he told me with his arm around me, "don't cry you and Jim will make it . I took those words and took care of my mother when she came back for 20 years..
When we were young and Jim and I were dating we would go places and take him with us in our old AMC gremlin gelopy the starter didn't work and we were in the rain, racing hard it was a 4speed so I had to pop the clutch, hahaha I did and took off and he and Jim were rolling around in the rain on the street they got in soak and wet (no heater,or wipers) we laughed so hard I think we all peed our pants. There are so many more memories of this man. Even though we did not talk for years not cause of bitterness or anger just we had our own little happy lives and we would if we had to talk.
I love and will always have happy wonderful memories of my big bother. He is with my Mom and Karen looking down with that funny side smile
Love you
John Creg Lawton
You will be missed..
