Obituary of Christopher L. Mahar

Gasport: Christopher L. Mahar, 55, passed away suddenly October 29, 2020. He was born May 8, 1965 in Medina, the son of JoAnn Mahar and the late Donald Mahar. Chris was a 1983 graduate of Roy Hart Central School and loved all sports, especially the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, Notre Dame and the NY Yankees. Chris served in the United State Air Force and was a Registered Nurse, having worked at several hospitals in New York and South Carolina. He will be remembered for his hard work ethic, outgoing personality, caring nature and his love of fishing. Chris is survived by his wife of 19 years, Maria; son, Joseph Mahar of SC; grandchildren, Jaycee A. Mahar, Jackson T. Newton and Branson J. Mahar; his mother, JoAnn Mahar; brother, Donald (Sherry) Mahar of Lockport; niece, Olivia and nephew, Joshua; aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. The family will receive friends at the Sherrie Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main St. Gasport on Monday November 2, from 6:00-8:00pm. Christopher’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, November 3, at 10:00am at St. John the Baptist RC Church, 168 Chestnut St. Lockport. Interment at Hartland Central Cemetery with military honors. Please note the Funeral Home will be operating at 33% capacity per state guidelines. New York State requires those in attendance to adhere to the social distancing guidelines and face coverings are mandatory.
