You are all in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. John will be missed greatly by many but the legacy he left behind will continue to impact everyone he knew and those in the future he didn’t have a chance to meet. May remembering him and the stories he has shared over the years bring comfort to everyone who had a chance to spend time with him.

I met John through the Rotary community and ran the Youth Programs for a while.
He was always a champion for the programs and supporting youth in his community and always the first to show up with students all pumped up and ready to go and the first to pick them up.
I'll miss John's big laugh and smile, may he rest in peace.

Sandy and your children: Please accept my condolences. I first met John when chartering an Interact club with the Rotary Club of Brantford when John was District Governor. Moving through club presidency and as SLAPSHOT Registrar, I continued to benefit from his leadership and dedication to youth development and opportunities in Rotary. He will be remembered by the many lives he touched here and around the world, in his service above self.

I first met John through our mutual involvement with Rotary Youth Exchange, 20+ years ago. I admired his leadership in Holley and in education, his commitment to Rotary, and his energy and dedication to Service Above Self, especially where our youth are involved. He truly exemplified those ideals not only at the local but the international level.
Sandy and family, we are sorry for your loss. John will be sorely missed.

Dear Sandy and family,
I mourn for your loss. John was one of my favorite friends in Rotary. It was a treat to be around him. He made you laugh and you could easily make him laugh...a laugh that I will miss very much. He always seemed to be enjoying life and sharing his happiness with others. His dedication to Rotary was truly inspiring. For me, he was a role model of kindness and leadership. His commitment to Youth Exchange and youth leadership programs like RYLA and Slapshot was such a great example for others. I know this is a special loss for you, his family. He spoke of you often and always with great pride. Please know that John was a great friend and bright spirit for those of us who knew him in Rotary. Memories of John and his contributions to the world will be with us for a long, long time.

I met John through Rotary, like so many others. I was always impressed with his willingness to jump in and help with anything that needed to be done. His generosity has been an inspiration to me and I will strive to reach the high bar he set. A fixture at every scholastic event, no matter how small. Always with a smile and an infectious laugh. So many more things can be said. He will truly be missed.

Dear Sandy and family,
Past District Governor John was such a wonderful leader for Rotary District 7090, 2011-12. In addition to his leadership experiences, he brought an easy spirit of camaraderie to the role of governor. Well-loved by all, he was especially known for his easy repartee at District Council meetings with our more conservative-leaning members. John was never undone, nor was Jack, or John B. John loved a good debate and a good laugh. He will be much missed!

I would like to extend my condolences to the family of John Heise including his wife, Sandy, his children Kevin and Samantha, his grandson ,Alexander and to all his relatives and friends. I first met John at Brockport in January 1967 and had the opportunity to room with him for the Fall semester that year. What I remember most was that he was calm, studious and overall was a good guy. As the years passed, we all went our different ways, but fortunately were able to reconnect with John and our other roommates in 2010. One instance that I wish to convey is that one night (I believe it was a Friday) in the Fall of 1967 John was, as usual, highlighting with a yellow marker in a textbook that he was reading. For some reason we both started a conversation which lasted for at least a couple of hours. What I remember most is that he told me about his aspirations to achieve a high level in the education field. Well to no surprise John accomplished all of that and more. I know there are so many young people today who are successful due to John's instruction and guidance., After his retirement John devoted himself with enthusiasm to the Rotary Club in Holley ,NY .What's ironic is that John began and completed all of his studies for his career path at Brockport State. Unfortunately his death also occurred at Brockport completing his life cycle.
John, you were a good and kind friend and I was fortunate to be in your company. All of us who knew you, especially our roommates, will miss you. But your legacy is more than you expected to accomplish. I know that you will rest in peace, and with heavy hearts we who survived you will miss you.
