A memory I have, which was not even something that I witnessed, but has left a strong memory hearing about it was this: Ray, as a young man was run over and trapped under a tractor. His Dad lifted the tractor off of him, saving his life. Jack was a hero in many ways.

What a wonderful man.................always with a smile, always so willing to help when ever needed. All the many dinners, breakfasts and any doings at the Hartland Church, you would always find Jack there pitching in. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

Mr McQueen was a very nice man. My mother was the first female rural letter carrier which Mr McQueen mentored her on the job. she also was in the legion Post with him and once was held the Commander position also. May he rest in peace.

It's hard to believe that Lilian has been gone that long, but I remember your father at LMH, when it ws not always easy to have a big grin at work, Jack was never without one. I hope you are all at peace with this, as I'm sure Lil is. Doc

My deepest sympathy to his family. I know Jack through The American Legion. Always a super nice guy and ready to help his fellow veterans. I'll miss him at the Flag Day ceremonies at the R-H Elementary school and at County meetings.

I only had the privilege of knowing Jack McQueen for the last 11 of his 98 years but I cannot overemphasize the impression that he made on me, as he made on most people who happened to cross his path. My wife, Heather, is Jack’s granddaughter, and I first met him in 2009 when I visited Heather’s family from Korea, where we’d both been teaching. He received me more warmly than any complete stranger really deserved, and when we returned again to get married in 2013, he, more than anybody else, made me feel accepted, like one of his own. At that time, I’d had no living grandparents for many years (both grandfathers died before I was born, and step-grandfathers died in my teens). Before long, he wasn’t “Heather’s grandfather”, he was just ‘grandpa’, which is how he would sign all of the birthday and Christmas cards he sent to me over the years.
He entered the world under imperfect circumstances, but did not dwell on his lot. He had little, but built things with his own hands. He carried on when others might have quit. He was drawn into war and learned to be a soldier, but did not lose himself. He had strong convictions, but did not judge. Though he deserved every good fortune, he did not lose faith when misfortune nonetheless came his way. When his house was shaken by tragedy and upheaval, he did not run and shield himself from it, but wrapped his arms around his family, and held them ever more tightly. His embrace was not controlling, but simply loving. He was smart and relatable, despite his years, because he never closed his mind and never stopped thinking. He had an innate and enviable understanding of what is important in life, paired with an incomprehensible generosity. I don’t pretend to understand him at all, but by trying, I hope to become more like him. Rest In Peace, Grandpa.

My love and prayers for Peace go out to the family..I have such fond memories of Jack with family get togethers and on his homestead...
I’ll always remember his laugh, especially when I told him how my pants fell down while riding a running horse with Rayburp...he couldn’t stop his contagious laugh, it was catching and genuine.
Til we meet again Jack, hugs to Lil

I am so sorry to hear of Mr McQueen's passing. As Town historian I always enjoyed listening to his stories. He was a great asset to our community. I, among others, will miss him immensely.
