I was very sorry to learn of the passing of Noely Boccaccio. If you grew up in the Village of Holley in the 50’s & 60’s, it’s hard to imagine that you didn’t know Noely. And if you were a male teenager, you likely got your haircut by his father Emilio, or his Uncle Mike, at Boccaccio Brother’s Barber Shop. Noely was a gentle friendly soul who always greeted you by name with a smile and kindness in his heart.
If you attended the old Holley High School, outdoor gym classes were held on the ball field east of the Public Square behind the block that included the Marine Midland bank. Since Noely’s family home was nearby, it was not uncommon for him to make an appearance during gym class. Everyone liked him and to my knowledge he was never mocked or ridiculed. And when it came to hitting a baseball, no one I ever knew could hit the ball farther!!
Several years after his parents passed away & Noely moved from Holley, I saw him at Wegman’s in Brockport. Actually he saw me first and I was both shocked & pleased that he recognized me and called out to me by name. He always called me “Stevey”. I was every bit as happy to see him, after so many years, as he was to see me!!
Whenever someone from your childhood passes away, a small part of you dies too. Such is the case for me, with respect to Noely Boccaccio. But I take solace in the certain knowledge that he is with the Angels.

SO sorry for the passing of Noel Boccaccio. We would play baseball in the glen in the late 60's. Noelly, as we called him, would come up to us whenever we saw him. He would say to me, "Play baseball, Winch?" He always called me Winch. He will surely be missed.

I’m
So very sorry to hear about Noely as we called him
As kids. Noely was always ready to play baseball with us on field by Glenn , right near his house. I remember Noely used to hold the baseball bat cross handed and always called me Harter in his own way. Great memories in Holley❤️

I first met Noel in the late 1970's when he lived at Bramoor in LeRoy. I knew he didn't belong with the old folks there as he was very youthful. When I started working at LAI in the 1980's I was so pleased to be working with Noel again and then again when I went to work in the day hab in 2000's. Noel was such an engaging character who could never and will never be forgotten. My sincere condolences to all of you who truly loved and cared for Noel. ❤

So sorry to hear of the passing of “ Noelly”. Having grown up in Holley a few years younger than him, I have great memories as a young boy playing baseball with Noelly. EVERYONE wanted Noelly on their team......he put more baseballs into the glen that I could ever count! He never forgot your name.......I bumped into him while visiting Holley about 12 years ago, I hadn’t seen him in over 20 years....and he came right up to me with an outstretched hand and said....”Jimmy Comden how are you?” We had a great talk and it was like I had just seen him yesterday. He was always so friendly and happy......he never failed to lift your spirits!
He will be sadly missed by all of us who grew up with and had the pleasure of knowing him!
Rest inPeace Noel!
