I worked with Norm as part of the administrative team at Newfane Central School for several years in the 1990s. He was a wonderful guy...funny, smart and hardworking, and a real team player. I am so sorry he's gone. My condolences to his family.

Mr. Kopeck watched over me as a kindergartener waiting for my bus to Lockport. I didn't know he was one of my guardian angels until 9 years later when I entered his High School. He was witness to my first time singing in public and gave me courage! His smile was inspiring! He "graduated" with me in 1998 when he retired. I remember his laugher, penguin collection and that time drove the DeLorean! We had some good talks! His laugher is unforgettable! He always had a sense of light heartedness, compassion and projected a sense of security and trust. Thank you Mr. Kopeck! Namaste. I wish you, your family and friends peace.

Mr. Kopek was very kind and supportive as principal when I attended Newfane Senior High Class of 1992. I transferred in as a Junior and I will always remember the warm welcome he extended to my sister and me as new kids on the block. He was a very big part of the reason my experience at Newfane was a success. I am very grateful to him for this and always cherish those memories. -Laura (Page) Perry

It was my pleasure and privilege to serve as Norm's Assistant Principal for about 14 years. I was in an unique position to observe this caring , amazing school administrator in action. Everything he did was designed to improve the education of the students in NEWFANE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL.
So many things he did ,behind the scenes, to improve the curriculum, athletics, the arts, the security and the feeling tone/ unity of the students and the community at large.
He was a very special Principal, but more importantly he was a kind and empathetic human being who always wanted what was best for the students , faculty and the entire Newfane Community.
We have lost a giant in Niagara County and New York State education.
God Bless you Norm , I will always remember our Daily discussions over coffee as we planned what we needed to do in the building every day.
Dear Donna, Doug, and Greg please accept my most sincere condolences.......God Bless you too!
Sincerely,
Kenneth Kiedrowski

What a wonderful man. Always smiling and full of life, he taught me what determination and perseverance can do. As I walked out of the Social Studies Regents exam, he shook my hand to tell me I had passed and would be receiving my Regents Diploma. At my senior prom in 1984, he came out on the dance floor with me and we danced to Twilight Zone by Golden Earring. He was the best. He will be remembered and missed.

I am sad to hear that Mr. Kopeck has passed away. What a wonderful man he was....I and my husband both had Mr. Kopeck as our principal in high school (76 and 77). Always a smile on his face, you were never nervous to go and talk to him, whether it was on his terms or something you needed to talk to him about. He always made time for his students, and that meant a lot to the many kids that were happy to have him as their principal. He never acted better than you, and made it a point to treat you as an adult, preparing you for your future. RIP Mr. Kopeck......<3
