David was a dear, dear friend. His thoughtfulness, compassion and sincerity was a beacon to those who met him. David was a big part of my early days and memories at Buffalo State. We spent countless hours goofing around (my goodness, we would laugh and cut up), with me listening to him talk about his H.S. football teammates and of us talking about family. I think love of family is one of the things that bonded us. He beamed with pride when he shared stories about his brother and sisters and the love of his life, Charlese. He was always sure to send updated pictures of the kids and his beautiful grand children. Although many decades have passed, the pride in his voice never waned when he would mention Charlese's name. Even though Kevin and I have a few friends named David, when I would tell him that I spoke to David or 'look at the meme David sent' he always knew who I was talking about. David was a constant blessing in my life. He shared his wisdom, love of family and male perspective with a green 17 year old. My heart continues to ache. David was a dear, treasured friend who I loved dearly. His wonderful spirit blessed me more than he could have ever known.

My brother David. How I want you here, for so many reasons, but so you can smile with all of those who will be in Albion tomorrow. Your smile - could light up a room, and you used it to light up the lives of so many others. I miss you every single day. Your legacy of love remains. You are simply one of the best humans I have ever met. I know that you are still looking over "Charbie" and the kids, the grandbabies, your entire family and I know they can all turn to you and they will hear you, that you are always so much closer than they know. It always makes me laugh - there was so much wisdom in your kind demeanor and laughing self - as if in the moment we were telling stories, and then, I'd think - look at this man's example and hear him in the little things. One of my most favorite memories - it happened all the time, it became the way things were - I call to speak to Charlese, and there in the background, you would be sending in one liners; Charlese, would be asking you to be quiet, but I would be telling her my responses and we, all three would be laughing. I lost a brother when you passed, but I know through Jesus Christ I will see you again. I love you, Man.

After reading his wishes I knew he must have a lot of loved ones missing him and I thought of this quote I just saw.
“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” -Winnie the Pooh
