Obituary of William L. Dusett

William L. Dusett

Devoted Husband and Father, Christian, Lifelong Businessman

William Lewis Dusett, 81, of Appleton, NY, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on April 18, 2021 after a brave battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Bill was born on July 10, 1939 to William and Elsie Dusett in Rochester, NY. He fell in love with the water as a young boy on fishing trips with his father and learned his love for the kitchen from his mother who worked as a cook.  After graduating from Fairport High School in 1957, he went on to graduate from Alfred University in 1962 with a degree in Business.  Bill had an unstoppable work ethic, working at restaurants, car dealerships and bowling alleys through high school and college before starting his first business in 1968; a boat dealership. A lifelong entrepreneur, Bill managed or owned restaurants, delis, boat dealerships, marinas and a business consultancy during his 50+ years in business.

In 2020, Bill and Patricia (Hollis) Dusett celebrated 58 years of marriage and adventures with their five children.  They createdforever memories living in Pultneyville, NY for 27 year and 23 years in St. Petersburg, FL before moving to Appleton, NY.  Bill was famous among family and friends for neighborhood picnics and Sunday morning homemade biscuits and sausage gravy.  To Bill’s own ear, he had perfect pitch and a melodic whistle that he enjoyed to his final days in family singalongs.  While living in St. Petersburg, Bill served as deacon and treasurer of his beloved Island Chapel church community.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Patricia (Hollis) Dusett and his sister, Connie (Dusett) Liberto.  He is also survived by 5 children and many grandchildren that were his pride and joy; William Jr. and Leah (Hrozenchik) Dusett and grandchildren Julian and Miles; Paul Dusett; John and Patricia (Paparella) Dusett and grandchildren Katlyn (Gregg [and fiancé IricBressler]) and Caroline; Daniel and Theresa Dusett and grandchildren Grace (Hunt [and husband Ethan]), Mary and Jonathan; Rocco and Danielle (Dusett) Spagnolo and grandchildren Rocco and Luca.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Ridgewood Bible Church in Lockport, NY on April 27 at 1:00. There will be a private family burial service at Lakeview Cemetery in Pultneyville, NY.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Niagara Hospice or the Olcott Fire Co.
