I met Bill about 40 years ago when he was servicing customers out of Knowlesville Agway.
Through the years, he got to know my husband through the Batavia Agway Fertilizer plant and later GrowMark FS. In every visit, Bill would ask Mike how our daughter was doing, from toddlerhood through college and into her teaching career. Jess always referred fondly to Bill as “Mr. Bill, The Apple Man.”
Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Joyce, and your family.

There hasn’t been one time, in the past 30 years, I have gone by the house on West State Street and did not think of Bill and his family. In the 12 years we were neighbors he never failed to help shovel snow from the end of our joined driveways. Such a lovely kind and generous person, who will be deeply missed.
We share in your sadness,
Michael and Pat Bieber

Bill Coxeter, A Friend Indeed!
I believe it couldn't have been much more than a few months ago during the evening hours when Bill climbed into his Ford pick-up and made the last of many trips to visit his siblings in the Hudson Valley. Bill was not just a brother, he was a best friend. Regardless of his age he was determined to not let it be a factor in his life.
About 40 years ago I was helping out a best friend on his farm in Holley when Bill happened to stop to give him a chemical recommendation for his fruit trees. It was about that time I was first introduced to the Agway Salesman. I remember one day late in the year, we were rushing to get winter squash harvested and under cover before the predicted frost. The late afternoon was cold and it was getting dark. Again Bill happened to stop by and offered his help picking squash. We were very thankful that Bill helped us out that night. When finished we may have shared a drink of Hard Cider to warm us up, obviously. I’m not too clear about that though.
I didn't see Bill much during the few years since the "Squash Night" and the purchase of our farm in Holley. Well that best friend I mentioned earlier is Rick Collyer. After learning that Carol and I purchased our farm and one with fruit trees on it... he notified Bill. Our Agway Salesman showed up sooner than expected and congratulated us on our purchase and when leaving left us with his Agway Pesticide Recommendation Sheet.
Over the past many years Bill has helped Carol, Colleen and me in so many ways from taking soil samples, picking, pruning, pesticide recommendations, bug identification and so much, much more. During his recent hospitalization he said he hoped to recover in time to help us pick Black Raspberries
During his retirement years he stayed active helping former growers, neighbors and friends.
"Did I ever tell you about"......Well, I'm not going to tell his story. Bill probably told it to you all………many times.
It is with a great deal of sadness we send you our sincere Sympathy for the loss of your Husband, Father and Brother.
Carol, Colleen & Wally Liese

I don't think I'll ever eat an apple without thinking of Bill, and all the generous gifts he dropped off through the years. Even a bunch the day before he went to the hospital. Thanks, Bill, for all that and so much more. We will miss you dearly.
